Who we are

Fil Good Psychotherapy (“Fil Good Psychotherapy”, “we”, “us”) is the practice of Filippo Folino, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario #21562), who provides sessions at Batool Psychotherapy & Wellness, 3100 Steeles Ave W, Suite 400, Concord, Ontario, and online. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through https://filgoodpsychotherapy.ca and in the course of providing psychotherapy.

As a regulated health professional in Ontario, Filippo Folino handles personal health information under the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA). Other personal information collected through this website, such as a general question sent through the contact form, is also handled in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Accountability

Filippo Folino is responsible for our personal information practices and for compliance with this policy. Privacy questions or requests can be sent to [email protected].

Information we collect

When you contact us through this website, we collect only the information you choose to provide: your name, email address, phone number (optional), your session preference (optional), how you heard about us, and the contents of your message. Please do not include sensitive clinical details in the form or in email; we can discuss those privately. We do not require you to create an account on this website, and we do not collect payment information through it.

Consultations and sessions are booked through the online booking system of Batool Psychotherapy & Wellness, provided by Jane App, which has its own privacy policy. If you become a client, we collect the health information needed to provide care, such as intake details, session notes and billing records.

Children and minors

Young people are welcome to use this website and to contact us. We provide therapy to preteens, teens and adults. In Ontario there is no fixed age of consent for counselling or for the handling of personal health information: a person of any age who is capable of understanding the information and the consequences of their decision may consent on their own behalf.

For clients under 16, a parent or guardian may also be able to give or withhold consent, except for information about treatment or counselling the young person decided on themselves. If a capable young person and their parent disagree, PHIPA gives the young person’s decision priority. We encourage young people to involve a parent, guardian or trusted adult where they feel comfortable, and we ask that children under 13 contact us with a parent or guardian’s help. Before therapy begins, we explain in age-appropriate language who can see a young client’s information.

If you believe a child has sent us personal information without appropriate consent, contact us at [email protected] and we will review and, where appropriate, delete it.

How we use and share your information

We use the information you provide to respond to your inquiry, to provide and coordinate your care, to bill for services, and to meet our professional and legal obligations. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing.

Filippo Folino practises under clinical supervision, as the College requires of Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying). Clinical information may be discussed with the clinical supervisor to support the quality of your care, and the supervisor is bound by the same confidentiality obligations.

Consent and its limits

We collect, use and share personal health information with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by contacting us (withdrawal does not apply to information already shared). The law requires or allows disclosure without consent in a few situations, including:

  • when there is a significant risk of serious bodily harm to you or someone else;
  • when there are reasonable grounds to suspect a child is or may be in need of protection, which must be reported to a children’s aid society;
  • when a court order, summons or subpoena requires it;
  • when required by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, for example to report the abuse of a client by another regulated health professional.

Cookies and analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool hosted in Canada on infrastructure operated by our web provider. It does not use cookies, does not collect personal or health information, and does not store IP addresses. It reports only anonymized, aggregated statistics, such as how many people visited a page, which site referred them, and what type of device they used.

No one can be identified from these numbers. We use them to understand which information visitors find helpful, to improve the website experience, and to better serve our community. This website does not use advertising cookies or tracking for advertising purposes.

Service providers

Messages submitted through our contact form are delivered to us by a secure email relay service, and this website is hosted on infrastructure we control. Booking is handled by Jane App on behalf of Batool Psychotherapy & Wellness. The office map is an embedded Google Maps frame, which Google loads under its own privacy policy. Anonymous visit statistics are processed by our self-hosted Plausible Analytics. Service providers process information only as needed to deliver these functions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Retention and safeguards

General inquiries from people who do not become clients are kept only as long as needed to respond, then deleted. Clinical records are kept as the College’s standards require: at least 10 years from the last session, or 10 years after a client’s 18th birthday, whichever is later. They are then securely destroyed.

We protect personal information with administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS) on this website. Email is not a fully secure channel, so please keep clinical details out of email and the contact form.

Privacy breaches

If personal health information is stolen, lost, or used or disclosed without authority, we will notify you at the first reasonable opportunity, as PHIPA requires, and report to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario where required.

Your rights

You may ask to see your personal health information and request copies, ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate or incomplete, or withdraw your consent. Contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days, as PHIPA requires, and explain any reason we cannot grant a request.

If you have concerns about how your personal health information has been handled, you may complain to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (ipc.on.ca). For other personal information, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
